Calus

Plantars Calus: These occur on the soles of the feet, often caused by ill-fitting shoes or walking barefoot. They develop because of the pressure and friction the foot experiences when walking or standing, forming a thick, protective layer to shield the underlying skin from blisters and soreness.
Palmar Calluses: These are found on the palms of the hands, usually resulting from frequent gripping or lifting of objects without protective gloves. The skin thickens in the palms as a natural response to the constant friction, forming a protective barrier to prevent blisters and soreness.
Digital Calluses: These are on the fingertips and are often caused by repetitive impacts or pressure from playing musical instruments, typing, or texting on a smartphone. The tip of the finger develops thickened skin as a protective measure.
Recurring Calluses: These develop in the same spot repeatedly, even after treatment and removal. The skin's response to friction or pressure is so strong that it continues to thicken in that specific area, regardless of whether the callus has been removed.
